This 3-session workshop offers guidance on perceptive reading skills that will help students understand the internal workings of good writing. This workshop goes beyond comprehension and demonstrates the use of compositional devices in their practiced form, thereby enabling students to be mindful about their own writing.
Session 1
Introduction of specific reading methods as the basis for the “Read Better” section of the class; guided initial practice of these discerning reading methods.
Session 2
Opens with a short Q&A and summary/review of topics covered in session 1. Review reading ‘etiquette’ and practice through examining assignments and assigned readings.
Session 3
Opens with a short review of assignments/assigned readings and Q&A. Opportunity to put your reading strategies to the test with a guided writing practicum based on concepts and models covered in sessions 1 and 2.
All of our workshops are held over Zoom.
